&lt;/i&gt;&lt;/b&gt;è&lt;/span&gt; un movimento di attivisti che occupano un pezzo di terra abbandonato per coltivare piante e fiori, “spinti dal desiderio e dal bisogno di ridare vita a zone degradate della metropoli, trascurate dal corso degli interessi del momento e lasciate in stato di abbandono”*. Nato in un piccolo quartiere di Manhattan chiamato Loisaida negli anni Settanta con l’appropriazione di un fatiscente lotto privato e la trasformazione in giardino pubblico da parte di un gruppo di artisti e cittadini; dopo trentacinque anni lo spazio è ancora un giardino curato dai cittadini, che gode della protezione del Dipartimento Parchi della città. A questo, nel tempo, si sono aggiunti centinaia di altri &lt;span style="font-style: italic;"&gt;common gardens&lt;/span&gt; e ancora oggi nascono nuovi giardini e parchi in tutto il mondo. E’ il Big Jump, campagna europea di &lt;a style="color: rgb(153, 153, 153);" href="http://www.rivernet.org/bigjump/"&gt;European Rivers Network (ERN)&lt;/a&gt;, realizzata principalmente nelle grandi città, invita i cittadini a riappropriarsi dei propri fiumi facendo semplicemente il bagno. Un gesto naturale e usuale fino a 30 anni fa, ma che oggi, con le acque fortemente inquinate, rappresenta un urlo di sgomento e di protesta.
